Join us for a reading magic show, open to the community, on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 5:30 PM, at the Oswayo Valley Memorial Library, located at 103 N. Pleasant St., Shinglehouse, PA 16748. The show, titled “The Edgar Allan Poe Spirits Experience,” is being used as part of the library’s efforts to encourage people of all ages to read more. The magic show, presented by professional magician Cris Johnson, will feature music, age-appropriate humor, fun magic, audience participation, and more. “This particular magic show is something different – it has an important theme attached to it! Rather than just a fun show, we wanted something with a message, too,” Cris explains. Why did magician Cris Johnson go to the trouble of creating an entire themed magic show with a message? “I’ve been creating and presenting themed shows to libraries and schools across North America for over 20 years, and it’s a passion of mine,” Cris explains. “With budget cuts increasing all the time, we as a community really need to support our local libraries, encourage children to read more, watch less TV, and protect our children’s future.” Cris Johnson’s “The Edgar Allan Poe Spirits Experience” will be presented on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 5:30 PM at the Oswayo Valley Memorial Library, located at 103 N. Pleasant St., Shinglehouse, PA 16748, and is intended for adults. Admission is free, seating availability permitting.
