This was a cute and fun read. I recommend it to middle-grade readers who enjoy mysteries, books about libraries, and reading. The story is told by three characters with chapters clearly labeled to help avoid confusion. A little free library appears overnight in Martinville, with its cat guardian, Mortimer. Eleven-year-old Evan stops and selects a couple of books. He and his friend Rafe soon discover something odd about where the books originated. The boys begin to ask questions, but no one is talking, leading them on a life-changing adventure.
