There is a lot of hype surrounding this book and I put off reading it. I should have read it sooner! One good thing about that is being able to read the second book without so much of a gap. This is my top book of the year by far. Violet Sorrengail has wanted to train as a Scribe all her life. Before she has a chance to join that Quadrant, her mother has other plans for her. She is to join the Riders Quadrant to become a dragon rider. In her choice to survive, Violet may find that she was meant to do something other than being a Scribe after all.
