This is the first time I have read something with a Viking feel, and I enjoyed it. I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did an excellent job of bringing the emotional writing and characters to life. Eelyn was raised to fight alongside her clan in an ancient feud with the Riki. She even lost her brother in the last fighting season, or so she thought. Taken prisoner, she must face the betrayal she feels from her brother, and survive the winter to return to her clan. But, a bigger threat arises and Eelyn must trust her brother’s friend Fiske to help save both clans from destruction.
